terms
Cosmos is research-stage software operated by Polarity Lab (Providence, RI). By signing in or connecting a client to cosmos.polarity-lab.com you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
what cosmos does
Cosmos stores a personal knowledge graph for you. Nodes and edges are written by you directly (chat, capture), by clients you have authorized through Model Context Protocol keys (claude code, cursor, obsidian, notion, waxfeed, others), by the local iMessage sync when you run it on your own mac (the sync reads your chat.db locally and ships extracted turns into your graph), and by cosmos itself when it extracts observations from conversations you have with it. You can read, export, and delete that graph at any time.
the account
You sign in with an email or Apple ID. The account is yours. You are responsible for keeping the device that holds your sign-in safe. MCP keys you mint are long-lived bearer tokens, so treat them like passwords. You can revoke any key from /connectors at any time.
what you write into cosmos
You own everything you write. Polarity Lab does not claim ownership of your graph. Cosmos uses your graph to operate the product for you: rendering your dashboard, answering you in chat, running your authorized connectors, improving extraction quality, debugging failures, and keeping the service safe. We do not sell your graph and we do not feed it into third-party training corpora.
research use
Cosmos is research-stage software. You allow Polarity Lab to use aggregated or de-identified high-level patterns from the service to understand how people use cosmos, what kinds of things they like or do, which connectors are useful, and where the product gets confused. That research right does not give us ownership of your graph, and it does not let us publish identifiable private contents without your explicit consent.
what cosmos writes back
Cosmos extracts observations from your conversations and from authorized client activity (skipping an album in WaxFeed, editing a Notion page, prompting in claude code, and so on). These observations are visible to you on /me and reflected in chat. They are not shared with other users.
what we cannot promise
- Uptime. Cosmos is research-stage. Outages happen.
- Bug-for-bug data fidelity. We may migrate schemas, rename node kinds, or change extraction logic. Your graph survives, but downstream views may shift.
- Model quality. Reasoners we route through are external (Cloudflare Workers AI, occasional partner APIs). Their behavior is their own.
- Permanence. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice and an export window.
what is forbidden
- Using cosmos to store data about people who have not consented (employees, exes, clients without their permission).
- Building automated abuse of the chat or MCP endpoints (rate-limit evasion, key cloning, scraping other users' material).
- Reverse-engineering or copying the service for a competing product. Patents are pending.
- Using cosmos for unlawful activity under US or Rhode Island law.
termination
You can delete your account by contacting [email protected]. We retain backups for 30 days and then purge. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we are required to terminate by law.
liability
Cosmos is provided "as is" without warranty. Polarity Lab's total liability for any claim arising from your use of cosmos is limited to the fees you have paid us in the prior twelve months, which today is zero.
changes
We may update these terms. Material changes are surfaced in-product before they take effect. The current version is always at cosmos.polarity-lab.com/terms.
